If you are hoping to find out, whether or not your dog has fleas, you can do as follows: Have your dog stand on his hind legs. Brush the dog's coat. Collect the small skin particles will that fall from the coat with a white paper towel. Look for small dark spots and dampen them with a bit of water. Rub your finger over these spots. If these spots turn brown or red, they might be flea dirt. In this case, your dog is more than likely suffering from fleas. If your dog is suffering from a flea infestation a treatment is necessary.
