A dog with an irritable or “compromised” stomach should not be fed later than 5 hours prior to sleeping. This helps to make sure that your dog’s stomach is empty. If your dog’s stomach is not empty, he/she could wake up in the morning with sore stomach mucosa, which can lead to further complications. Aggravating factors, i.e. cigarette smoke, fatty or spicy foods, as well some types of medicine should be avoided.
