Injecting insulin on a daily basis may be easier than you think. Your vet can give you helpful instructions and provide special thin syringes used for injecting insulin. Usually, as part of the process, an easily accessible spot is chosen, i.e. on the neck, where a fold of skin can be lifted. Then, the needle pierces through the skin. After a few times it becomes routine. If a glucose check-up at the vet is scheduled, please check with your vet to see if no insulin should be given that day. In some cases it may be necessary that your dog fasts the evening before. This is sometimes necessary to obtain an accurate result. Please note, that stress or illness can influence the glucose level and adjustment of the insulin dose may be necessary.
