If you are hoping to remove a foreign body lodged at the top of the ear canal, you can do the following: Choose a small pair of tweezers with blunt ends. Have someone help you to hold the dog’s head still. This is necessary. The dog may twitch in the process, and possibly cause injury to the ear. Avoid pushing the tweezers deep into canal. Once the foreign body is removed, the ear should be rinsed thoroughly with a cleaning solution. A dog’s ear is very sensitive so expect evasive movements during the procedure. If you feel uncomfortable removing the foreign body, or if your dog is difficult to handle, consult a veterinarian.
